ALLERTON, IOWA, The Moving Wall, a half size replica of the Washington, D.C. Vietnam Veteran's Memorial will be in Allerton September 17 thru 20, 2009. This magnificant memorial was designed by 3 Vietnam veterans to commemorate and honor the men and women who served in Viet Nam and the over 58,000 Americans who lost their lives in the conflict.
The Moving Wall is 250 feet long, 4 feet tall at each end and 6 feet tall in the middle. Fifty-eight thousand one hundred seventy-five names are silk screened upon black panels forming the wall. Volunteers are the working force behind the site preparation, construction of the wall and daily security and information given at the wall.
The event is open to the public and admission is free. It will be open 24 hours per day. More information on the wall can be found at www.themovingwall.com
